Web Production Associate

$24/hr Matthews, NC · Hybrid Part-time · 20–25 hrs/week

This role sits at the heart of how Modern Pixel delivers for its clients: building, optimizing, and shipping real business websites for companies across the region and across the country. A big part of the work is search engine optimization (SEO), generative engine optimization (GEO), and the ongoing website support, care, maintenance, and optimization that keep client sites fast and healthy. The timing could not be better. As AI becomes how people find and digest information, those tools live or die on the content they can crawl and summarize, and that has turned well-built, AI-optimized websites into one of the most in-demand assets a business can own.

You'll run the playbooks we've already built, refine them to perform better, and create new ones as opportunities arise. It's hands-on production work that keeps client projects moving and upholds the standards that separate professional web work from DIY, with AI as the default tool, not an afterthought. Because we operate AI-first, this position requires prior hands-on experience with AI development tools, and we strongly prefer candidates who already use Claude Code day to day.

The Opportunity

Modern Pixel is a web design and digital marketing agency located in the Charlotte metro area, serving clients throughout the region and across the country. We build and manage WordPress and custom websites and software for small businesses: healthcare practices, home service companies, professional consultants, travel agencies, and more.

We're looking for a part-time Web Production Associate to join our team and do real production work on real client projects. We are an AI-first shop. You will use Claude Code and other AI tools as your default way of working, not as a novelty. This is a paid position with real responsibilities, real clients, and real portfolio-building work.

This is hands-on, ship-it-this-week work. You will work directly with the owner on client websites, lean on modern AI-assisted development workflows every day, and contribute to live projects from week one.

  • Type: Ongoing part-time position
  • Schedule: Part-time, 20 to 25 hours/week (about 4–5 hours/day, Monday–Friday)
  • Hours: Flexible within 8:00 AM–5:30 PM ET (you pick morning, midday, or afternoon block)
  • Pay: $24/hour
  • Location: Matthews, NC area. Hybrid, in-person at cowork space regularly, flexible remote after ramp-up.

What You'll Do

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Build and edit WordPress websites
  • Use Claude AI (Code and Chat) as your primary development tool: writing code, building page sections, running speed and SEO optimizations, and troubleshooting issues
  • Work in our custom agency portal to manage support tickets, log time, and track project progress
  • Perform website maintenance: plugin updates, security checks, broken link audits, image optimization
  • Document and fix site performance issues identified through audits
  • Upload content, format blog posts, and make design updates on client sites
  • Test website changes across browsers and devices before deployment
  • Assist with SEO and website optimization playbooks
  • Assist with developing and executing agency and client strategies

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Prior hands-on experience using AI tools to do real work. This role is AI-first from day one, not an introduction to AI
  • Strong business sense and sharp analytical skills. You don't need to be a software engineer
  • A proven history of taking ownership over deliverables, with the drive to help grow the business and the foresight to make strategic recommendations
  • Comfort learning new software tools quickly
  • Attention to detail. You will be working on live client websites.
  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to manage a daily work block independently
  • Own laptop capable of web development work
  • Available to work in-person in the Matthews, NC area regularly

Preferred, but we'll train you if you don't have experience yet:

  • Hands-on experience using Claude and Claude Code to actually build or ship something
  • Basic familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • WordPress experience (any level)
  • Experience with any page builder (Elementor, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of SEO concepts
  • Familiarity with GitHub or version control
  • Interest in web design, software development, or UX/UI as a career path
  • Interest in digital marketing, SEO, or content strategy
  • Interest in AI-assisted development and automation
